We've had our first snow of the 2025/2026 season!  

Laurel Creek runs through the Powder Horn Mountain campground. It is the perfect starting point for many of our favorite hikes.

​ Powder Horn Mountain Campground

Did you know about the campground in Powder Horn - Deep Gap, NC ?  Guests visiting the Powder Horn Mountain community can find the campground by taking the second right after coming through the front gate.  Follow the short gravel road to the first parking area, or, for our more adventurous guests, keep on going and drive right through the river! 
There are nine campsites each with a fire-pit, charcoal grill, and picnic table. There are also horseshoe pits and a day use area for all to enjoy.  You can reserve a campsite at the front gate. This is a rustic campground so no shower facilities but there is a clean portajon for guests to use. Please leave our rock in the river!! The Campground is on Laurel Creek, this creek flows into Elk Creek. 
​A North Carolina fishing license promises trout fishing fun when the season is open.  Tons of trails, swimming holes, wading pools and rock skipping opportunities await!!
